content
When you are thinking about setting up a website it is important to think at length of exactly what you are going to put in it. Depending on your service, you may be giving lots of information in text or you may have more visuals if you are, for example, an artist showcasing a Portfolio online. Most sites, however, need a solid balance of good text and interesting visuals.
The language employed is just as important as the navigation and in order to have a successful website, you will need to think of the style of language that you are going to employ. Will it be distant or chatty, technical or simple, serious or jovial and so on.
idealEye can write and edit site content - this does, however, increase costs due to time involved. You may be happy to provide all text content and require no changes, you might need us to write it all or you might be an in-betweenie, bit from you, bit from us....we will always advise on the text content in any event.
As we also offer photographic services, we can offer you one of three ways to include visuals in your site:
- you supply the images. The work must be your copyright in order for you to use it on a website . We can retouch and digitally enhance images supplied to fit in with the feel of your website.
- we can photograph specific objects/subjects for you . This can also include, for example, portraits of employees. Please remember that idealEye is based in Glasgow so if you require location photography in other parts of the country, costings will include travel time.
- we can source images for you from Stock Photography Libraries.
When you first approach us for a quote, we ask you to fill in a short questionnaire which looks at your needs and wants for your website design, as well as giving us an overview of who you are and what you have currently. At this early stage we will look at the content of your site, if it is already written or sourced, and what you may still need. Content delivery influences the time structure of designing a website so it is important to think of this sooner rather than later.
